The Month of Months
October: Awareness Overload?

The month of October embodies a whole lot more than Halloween.

This is the month that is sarcastically referred to as "National Month Month" because of the large amount of organizations and corporations that have designated early Fall for their public awareness campaigns.

Folks can be excused for their sarcasm, because this also happens to be "Sarcastic Awareness Month."

In a giving mood? October is "UNICEF month."

Coming out of the closet? "Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual History Month" might be just the right time. It helps that it's also "Diversity Awareness Month."

Health Conscious? This is most definately the month for you as October is the "National Awareness Month" for breast cancer, brain injury, Down syndrome, liver, Lupas, orthodontic health, SIDS, Spina Bifida, and spinal health.

Second guessing yourself? It's "Listen to Your Inner Critic Month," so cut yourself some slack.

Want companionship? It's "Adopt a Dog Month." Woof!

Hungry? Not only is it "Eat Better, Eat Together Month," but also "Popcorn Poppin' Month!"

Why so many "National Months" in October? That's a good question. Perhaps I'll leave that up to the fine people who declared October "Kids Love a Mystery Month."
