Fresh out of prison former boxer Mario returns to his beautiful wife in The Comeback directed by Franco Angeli, playing Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. "But, to Teresa's dismay, rather than the start of a new life, a comeback is what's on Mario's mind. Teresa refuses to accept the fact that her husband can only find happiness inside the ring, but Mario must follow his bliss." I think we can all relate to Teresa's predicament.

Federico and his adopted sister have the hots for each other in Francesca and Nunziata playing Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. Appalled, the hardheaded businesswoman Francesca (Sophia Loren) schemes more profitable marriage plans for her daughter. Director Lina Wertmuller introduces the film in person. Areangela Felice Assunta Wertmuller von Elgg Spanol von Braueich, born in 1928, was something of a discipline problem as a child. She was kicked out of 15 Catholic schools. Before directing, she toured with a puppet company doing bizarre adaptations of Kafka for children.

"Christian is a frustrated, penniless DJ in love with a beautiful pharmacist," in If I Were You directed by Herbert Simone Paragnani, playing Nov. 22 at 9:30 p.m. It could happen.

Sho Ho, is the story of gender bent circus clown Rhonda Hammerstein from Hell's Kitchenette, written and performed by Sara Moore. It plays Theater Rhino Nov. 7- Dec. 7. It's directed by the very busy playwright and acting teacher, Dr. John Fisher.

"Lovers are unable to preserve their intimacy in the face of seige" in Elia Suleiman's Divine Intervention playing Nov. 12, 8:45 p.m. at the Castro Theater as part of the 6th Annual Cinemayaat Arab Film Festival, the largest independent film festival in the United States showcasing films produced by and/or about Arabs and Arab Americans "A complicity of solemn desire begins to generate violent repercussions and against the odds, their angry hearts counter-attack with spasms of spectacular fantasy." It won the Jury Prize at Cannes this year.

The Film Arts Festival Nov 13-17 at the Brava and Castro theaters features Alex Beckstead's Trailer Park Blues (intimate, verite-style), John Neely's Curve Ball, a personal documentary about his brother's struggle with schizophrenia, Teddi Dean Bennet's road picture, Jon Moritsugu's Scumrock and Sunset District resident Sheila Ganz's Unlocking the Heart of Adoption, about the history and civil rights movement of the "Bastard Nation" and Sam Green's The Weather Underground about the youth who subordinated their lives in pursuit of racial justice and an end to the Vietnam War.
