Turkish Delight
By Jaime Lin
The bus attendant woke us up with a gentle shake. "Here," he said, in heavily accented English.
Here. We stretched our cramped muscles and looked outside. Strange, phallic rock formations and multi-colored mountains stood out against a blue-marble sky.
Tips for Traveling in Turkey

Always comparison-shop. Bargain if the price is higher than what you want to pay. Threaten to go somewhere else if you feel pressured.

Don't sign up for tour packages. You will get more for less on your own.

Don't book ahead. You will get better deals by bargaining on the spot.

Haggle. It's part of the culture. Close your wallet, stand your ground, and watch the prices fall.

Don't be too trusting. People will and do try to take advantage of you. Don't believe salesmen who promise they are offering the lowest price.
