Have Your Say

What did you think of the on-campus protest last Thursday?

“I support it. I am in support of taking out the one singular overseer of everything and turning it back into the old democratic—when they had the board members. So yeah, I am in support.,” said business-invest student Jordan Swift, 25.

“I unfortunately don’t have that strong of an opinion on it. I got the email about it and then I saw the kid that got beat up, and that’s what made me feel really bad cause I’ve seen the police and I’ve seen him and he’s so tiny and he’s really frail. … It seemed like a bully situation. I’ve been to one of the protests before and the reason why I don’t keep track of them anymore is because I feel like they are futile. There is nothing that comes out of it and it doesn’t really feel like it’s a back and forth conversation,” said psychology student Jillian Silva Pereira, 24.

“I believe the SFPD and the campus police handled it very badly. If they can’t handle that kind of a high stress situation then they don’t deserve to be at that scene or possibly even wear the badge themselves,” said criminal justice student David Terry, 20.

“I think it’s a good thing. You need to do it. People who are in the strong position, they don’t understand those who are suffering. We need to stand up. It’s a good thing,” Yung Sung Cho, 28, music major, said. Photo by Khaled Sayed/The Guardsman

“To be honest, it was a little bit more hectic than planned, obviously. It pretty much backfired and didn’t go as planned,” said Doug Oromski, 19, graphic design major.
