Editor's Note: Next phase for Task Force recommendations - Write them into law

Historic budget and access changes to community colleges called “The Student Success Act of 2012” are now being debated, analyzed, and written into law by the California Senate on Higher Education Commitee, the end result of a year long project by the Student Success Task Force.

The California Community College Student “Success” Task Force is a name that parodies itself. The Task Force, charged with streamlining colleges across California, has assembled an eighty-page document that will tear apart the community college system as we know it.

The City College Board of Trustees rejected the draft report from the Student Success Task Force, who aim to financially support academically successful students at the expense of those in need.
